Derek Jeter is named 2009 Gold Glove Winner at the Short Stop position. His fourth golden glove and by far the most surprising. After an off-season full of doubters assuring Yankee fans that Jeter’s time at SS was nearing its end, Jeter showed them how little they knew with one of his best defensive seasons. Those haters are having a fresh meal of feet this evening as Jeter beat out several younger players to take home the Award. He is the second oldest player to take home the SS Gold Glove Award in the history of the award. A World Series ring and a Gold Glove. It must be nice to prove nay sayers wrong.
Teixeira took home the first baseman’s Gold Glove Award as well making the Yankees the only AL team with multiple winners. Congratulations Tex and Jeter!
